I'm going to turn it over to Samuel to introduce himself before we get started and talk about our agenda for the evening.

Like Andy said we will be running this web enough for the concept hour and as you can see from the title of the webinars from application to admission afield ground rules I will be working in the background answering your questions. So the moment I hand back to Andy, the question Chat box will be open for you to ask questions.

Addressing questions for high school applicants. Also for transfer applicants, there's going to be a lot of information that I'll be putting in the chat box, so keep checking the chat box just so I can direct you to the right places. We used to go to one thing that I do want to mention is about the document upload that we have been receiving. A high volume of information and emails asking about document upload. We are receiving your documents, which is the big back log from the Holidays.
But we will be catching up and be uploading your documents. Sometimes when you upload your document, you might realize that is still asking you for you to upload or still saying required. That's normal. We will be getting the document. Try as much as possible, not to upload the documents more than once we are receiving your document. Any other questions that you might have at mission specific requirements? Put them in the chat box for listening to Andy first 'cause most of your questions will probably be answered during the course of the presentation.

Hopefully everyone that's watching who's applied will be receiving a favorable decision. Fingers crossed for you will talk about when these decisions will be released as well as what you can expect to find in your offer of admission. Discussing the conditions and if you are joining us from outside of Canada, highlighting some high level steps that you might have to take in terms of.

Application center website? What should you be doing? Well, you should be checking your email for regular updates. Normally the application send application Center will send you confirmation and this is followed by a confirmation from McMaster as well. If you aren't receiving these types of messages, chances are they might be in your junk spam. Or if you're using a Gmail account your promotions folder so it's always important to check these particular spaces to make sure that our messages.
Are coming through to avoid this. You can always add mcmaster.ca or our domain at mcmaster.ca as a safe or trusted sender. This will allow your email provider to pass through our messages to you without any interruptions or hindrance. Of course, you're checking your email you have. We also recommend logging onto our applicant portal, which is called Mosaic. You can accessthatapplicants.mcmaster.ca. We'll talk about that short a bit more about that shortly.

How would I apply for scholarship?
We also urge to review your application checklist so once you've submitted your application, chances are further documentations needed and some additional steps might be required. So reviewing your checklist will give you a great idea of what the expectations are or what your next steps should be at. Once you're aware of which documents you need to submit for review. If you want to collect and prepare these documents listed in the required section.
Speaking of our portal, how do you access our portal? So as I mentioned, you will receive a few emails once you've submitted your application fee and choices through the OUAC. Read those emails carefully, of course, and one of the messages you'll receive will contain a 9 digit McMaster student ID number, as well as a 14 digit McMaster barcode number. Keep these two pieces of information safe and handy because you will need them. You have to follow the link in that particular email too.

Once you follow the instructions, you'll be able to activate that ID after doing so. This will give you access to our applicant portal. You'll want to bookmark this in your Internet browser because this is where you'll be finding the most up-to-date details or requirements for your application in the coming weeks and months. Hi, i want to ask about the final deadline for document submission. As the final transcript only available after our last semester is completed, therefore, the student transcript service of our province will be sent right away when it's available- so would it affect the final deadline?
Once you click on it to expand, it is a list of requirements needed to make your application complete. If you are coming from a country where English is not the primary language, you are likely going to be asked for English proficiency testing documents. You will likely be asked for transcripts from your school to give us an idea of what your academic performance is like. So if you click on show all requirements for this application, you will see the particular line.
Is needed for that program if you apply it up. Three different programs that master, be sure to look under each program. Show all requirements for this application line and you will be able to see the specifics that are needed for that individual application next to each choice. You will also see a link called attached file or a button. I should say this button is where you can upload these documents.

How do you upload these documents? When you click on the choose file button and you would select the file that is associated with that line item or that requirement. Once you've uploaded it, you will see a confirmation message saying that the document uploaded successfully. It's important to upload your documents in PDF file format. This is the preferred viewing method for our reviewers here at the University. If the individual line.
Item if you have multiple files associated with that individual line item and requirement, we always recommend that you combine the relevant files into a singular PDF, then uploading it.
Your once you've completed the upload, the button will remain there. It will say attach file until it is formally reviewed by someone from our documents team. If you have uploaded your documentation and you saw again this notification here and the bottom of the slide currently.
Do not upload the same file multiple times as this will delay the review of your application.
So when you have until to submit your documentation. Well, February 15, 2020 ones and imports and Davis are equal. Early consideration documentation deadline. What this means is that if you were to upload all of your requirements by that particular date, it will ensure that your application is reviewed much earlier and that you will receive a decision earlier. Integrated business and Humanities also has an additional supplementary application as well. If you have applied to one of these or multiple of the programs in the slides currently, once you've completed your supplementary application, the status will still be listed as required even after you've completed this requirement. It's not until after the deadline for these supplementary applications for all students has elapsed or past that we will be updating your status to complete it.
We normally wait for the deadline to pass before updating everyone's status on mass. If you apply to program not listed on this slide, we will look at your academic performance and so we'll talk about this in a few moments of what's required for the various curricula from different parts of the world.
In terms of scholarship opportunities, this year, we introduced her new automatic entrance awards with many new applications, awards by application as well for awards. By application, we've taken the guesswork out of finding what you're eligible for by matching you directly to tool called award spring. If you go to awardmcmaster.awardspring.com you will be able to access our system where you can submit applications for those awards that may require.
You work for those that involve automatic consideration. Of course, no action is needed. You will be automatically assessed for those scholarships.
To highlight a couple of awards that are available this year. The first is the McMaster Entrance Scholarship for international student. This is to celebrate the academic achievement of international visa students applying for admission to a Level 1 program here at the University there up to 10 of these awards available. They are valued at about 7500 Canadian dollars each. The deadline is just around the corner I believe. next Monday if I if my dates are correct. February 1st 2000.
And 21 for the Provost Entrance scholarship for international students. Another highlight is the master brighter World Entrance Award for black students. This is to celebrate the academic achievement of black students applying for admission to a Level 1 program. It's available to both domestic and international students, and these words are valued at 2500 Canadian dollars each. The deadline is a couple of weeks away. February 12, 2021 and you can visit the website on the slide.

And a couple of highlights here for you.
So how do we assess your application? Well, we look at your overall average. We calculate averages slightly different.
Differently for each curriculum, remember your most important academic year is your final year of high school. As we calculate a GPA average for admission consideration, we look at the specific courses needed for the program to which you applied and include those in that GPA Formula on our website. Future.mcmaster.ca, you will see the formula by program listed in the admission requirements section. Depending on the curriculum that you're in the formula.
Different and starting off with the integrated part of me, the International Baccalaureate program that formula consists of looking at three higher level plus three standard level courses plus bonus points to give us a total international back later. I be scored scored to make our decision. We always require English for students irrespective of the curriculum and so in the case of IB students it could be at the higher or standard level, either English A or English B.
The requisite courses specific to the application choice that you have on your file can be presented at higher standard level as well. If you're doing the IB certificate alongside the American curriculum, you must present a passing AC T or AC T score.
If your student who is joining us from a British pattern education system so at GCE at General Certificate Certificate of Education Background we normally take a look at a combination of three 8 two level subjects plus 2A combination of two. I GCSE or O level subjects to give us a GPA average for you.
In this case, English can be presented at the A level advanced subsidiary level GCSE IGCSE, or you could even use IGCSE, English as a second language to meet the English requirement from this particular particular curriculum background. If you're applying to a program where math is listed as a prerequisite, it must be taken at the 8 two level. Your assessment will be based on your predicted a 2 levels for our programs here at University.
If you are watching from the US or a school somewhere else in the world, that's following an American style curriculum. We only take a look at 5 senior level courses to determine our ignition decision. In the past we have required pass AT or AC T exams. However, for 2021 entry into McMaster the See T or AC T are optional. If you don't have this at not a problem.
The required courses similar to the other curricula that I've mentioned, they must be presented as an AP or an equivalent. So if you're working towards an equivalent of AP classes, this would normally include four years of high school math or pre calculus or AP calculus. If you're applying to stem type programs and challenge exams are also accepted for admission that consideration.
For those students joining us from the Caribbean or any school following the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination or Cape Structure, we take a look at 5 subjects. At least three of which must be at Cape Unit 2 level to determine admission at McMaster, the required math and science courses must be presented at Cape Unit 2 level. If you are applying to a stem type program here at the University.
Typically grade one or Grade 2 passes will result in a favorable decision. You can include a great three pass in there, but no individual braids can be lower than a great three pass. If you are Cape Student.
If you are joining us this evening from a country where English is not the primary language, or if you are studying in a language other than English, you may be asked to submit an English language proficiency test result and to call these specific requirements for English language proficiency are posted on our website at future.mcmaster.ca. You may receive a waiver if you have studied in an English speaking country for at least.
For years immediately prior to the September that you want to start at master, or if you studied in an English full time English School High School, four years immediately prior to the September you wish to start at McMaster. If you have completed one of these language tests but you've not met the requirements listed on our website, McMaster offers the McMaster English language Development Meld Diploma Program. This is part of me. This is an 8 month bridging program taken prior to degree study. It is there to improve your language skills while earning academic credits to be used towards your McMaster studies. There is even though you may not have passed the.

So that's a lot of information we've talked about the requirements from the various curricula from around the world. Now I'd like to talk about.
She submitted your application and the reviews conducted. When can you actually receive a decision from McMaster? Well, this depends on a couple of factors was when was your file your application filed in just completed? So all of those checklist items that we discussed earlier in the.
So when was the last one marked as completed? Secondly, have you applied to a program that involves a supplementary application?
Once you've applied to a program involving a supplementary application, admission decisions likely will not be released up until March to early May. If you've applied to a program that does not involve a supplementary application, admission decisions occur.
And are released on a rolling basis, typically about five weeks after all of your documentation on your portal are marked as completed is when you can expect a decision.
And so, how will you hear about this decision? Well, it's released to you through email and eventually the Ontario Universities Application Center website once again reminding you to ensure@mcmaster.ca or domain Mast.
Yes, that is a safer, trusted sender to allow you to receive notifications that we will send out indicated decisions available.
If you are looking to read through the decision that has been posted to your account on applicantsnotmcmaster.ca, you'll want to ensure that your popup blockers in your browser are blocked to allow the PDF letter to be downloaded for your perusal. You can download your letter on the applicant portal. Once again, applicants dockmaster.ca once it is received. When you receive an offer, it's very likely.
That it is going to be a conditional offer mid mission. If your high school students it is going to be a conditional offer of admission that you're going to be receiving. So what is a conditional offer of admission?
A few things to make your offer conditional, meaning that.
You are still studying. You have academic still in progress, and so one of the conditions.

Once you've finished your academic year and you have final marks or grades available, one of the other conditions will be sending my letter Mail or Courier any formal official hard copies directly from the issuing institution to McMaster. There may be other conditions as well that are non standard, and so you will. We always recommend reading that particular section and completing these as required. Depending on the curriculum that you are studying it.
So once again, to recap, you will receive your offer of admission on the portal at styleable through a PDF. There are conditions, including a deadline of when you have to accept the offer to decide whether or not you want to join us. Here at McMaster, minimum average that you have to maintain.
You also be informed of whether not even guaranteed a spot within one of the residence buildings here at McMaster. If you are joining us from outside of Canada and you are not a Canadian citizen.
For permanent resident you also need to apply for a visa to obtain a study permit to.
Enter Canada and so they'll be important information that will assist you in completing your Visa application as well. Finally, you'll also receive information about any aid and awards that are.
Uh, that have been given to you in that package.
Just as a reminder, if you are receiving a favorable decision, you will not receive a final offer of admission, but you will receive it as an email over the summer. So sometime around July or August informing you that you have met the conditions after you finished your academic year.
And everyone in your program normally has the same conditions.

We talked about once you've submitted your application.
What happens next? We've talked about how McMaster reviews and process is your file. We've talked about some of the conditions and where you can find your decision.
Now let's talk about how you can accept your offer of admission. So to formally decide to join us at McMaster, you do have to log into your account where you originally apply the OUAC website, and that is where you formally commit to McMaster. As you are following this process, you will see an on screen confirmation from the AC that verifies that you've successfully finished all of the steps to formally commit and accept your offer to McMaster. Be sure to keep a copy of this food.
That confirmation number for your records, maybe screenshot or print PDF for the hard copy. To ensure that you have that confirmation number because you that indicates that you've successfully completed all the steps needed to accept your offer on the AC. If you did not receive a confirmation number, chances are you stopped short of the final step.
Once you receive that confirmation from all UAC, McMaster will also send a confirmation within a few business days, typically takes about three to five business days for us to resend a reconfirmation that we've received. Your decision to join the McMaster community.
That's the case. I would love to be the first to welcome you to the McMaster community.
And again, if you are joining us from outside of Canada to enter the country to start, commence your studies you.
Are going to be requiring a study permit or not. A Canadian citizen or permanent resident, and so in your offer package you will need your conditional offer from McMaster to show that Mr Designated Learning.
Institution, you need a valid passport or travel document so you do not have a passport travel document. You of course want to start the paperwork to obtain that from that wherever it is you are living in the world. You also need as part of that visa or study permit process that you need to demonstrate proof of financial support. So you must show that you or your family can support your studies while you're living here in Canada.
Once you've obtained that document.

In terms of documents, it will be listed in your portal and it is likely going to be from your high school terms of standardized testing. For the case of students coming from US or American South curriculum background, we have made SCT and AC T testing optional this year.

I've submitted the language test result before the deadline, but it's not confirmed after the deadline. There are general admission programs actually where academic performance is the sole determinant of your admissibility to the University. So no, in those cases there are other programs where they are supplementary applications that are involved.
Within these particular supplementary applications, perhaps depending on the application form, you might reflect on those programs, but in no way is there.
Parental treatment given for students with or without. You can incorporate your involvement with these as you respond to these questions, but like Master giving preference to someone with a large list of involvement versus maybe smaller list involvement at, that's typically not the case.

And this is not required from you, or if you are from an Ontario High School background where your grades are transmitted electronically, then you are not required to complete any steps because your school and your school board transmits your results to the different universities that you apply to within Ontario.
